Nov. 3 will be a night of celebration at the First Thursday ArtWalk. One of the first in the region, the monthly ArtWalk happens between Pacific Ave, Harbor Boulevard, 4th and 9th streets. First Thursday ArtWalk showcases all arts disciplines throughout the community. Begun in 1997, by a group of artists, restaurateurs and urban planners, it was designed to revitalize businesses and the arts by creating an attraction to bring the community into downtown San Pedro.

A second-line style band, Joshua Christian Childress and Friends (Facebook: Joshua Christian Childress, Instagram: jchild98) will perform and be moving around the ArtWalk, bringing Dixieland music to the corners of the district to celebrate the anniversary. Food trucks will return to Mesa Street between 7th and 5th streets.

The Arts District has created a colorful commemorative map and will be conducting a guided ArtWalk tour of arts spaces in the arts district, with special treats for donors. Attendees can gather at the Palm Realty PopUp, 255 West 6th St., and start walking at 6 p.m..

You can help celebrate FirstThursday ArtWalk’s anniversary, by making a pay-what-you-choose donation when you reserve your spot – https://tinyurl.com/Guided-Tour. For a map and parking details, click here: http://sanpedrowaterfrontartsdistrict.com/contact.

Guests can park at 6th and Harbor and take the red PBID trolley 9 https://sptrolley.com to the center of the ArtWalk.

San Pedro Waterfront Arts District supports, advocates and promotes San Pedro arts and artists of all genres. San Pedro is home to more than 90 visual artists, three performing arts venues, art galleries and restaurants. Anchored by the Warner Grand Theatre, the Little Fish Theatre, the Grand Annex and the Loft Studios, the Arts District’s streets are lined with artists’ live/workspaces, who each month, open their doors to the FirstThursday ArtWalk.

Notably, in 2017, San Pedro was designated as one of 14 California Cultural Districts by the Sacramento based California Arts Council.
