Carson Celebrates Black History Month, Presenting California Dreamin’: The West Coast Migration

The City of Carson will host a night of non-stop performances on Feb. 23 as Carson joins the nation in commemorating Black History Month.

The event is open to the public.

This year’s event features a host of musical selections, dances and tributes with the theme, California Dreamin’: The West Coast Migration. Special guest speakers include Roland Bynum, Dr. M. Keith Claybrook, Jr. and Alison Rose-Jefferson. Music selections are inspired by the songs of artists such as Etta James, Sam Cooke, James Cleveland, WAR, Sly and the Family Stone, and Solar Record with a special Tribute to Leon Silvers.

Black History Month is celebrated throughout the month of February to reflect on vast history and pay tribute to African Americans who have made significant contributions to American culture and the world.
