Many constituents of the 65th Assembly District are aware that the gates of Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in the City of Carson were temporarily closed in July.
Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson’s office has met with California’s Cemetery and Funeral Bureau or CFB repeatedly since those closures, as well as with the Department of Consumer Affairs or DCA. Gipson’s message was clear: Lincoln must remain open and accessible to the community, because cemetery access is a social justice issue.
On Aug. 8, an announcement from CFB informed the public that the party operating Lincoln had vacated its license, effective immediately. This means that Lincoln’s current status is officially abandoned. The assemblymember wants to now discuss the pathway forward with the community. You are invited to attend a town hall meeting Aug. 18 to discuss the cemetery. Attendance will be open to all.
