We’re heading into the final stretch of Long Beach’s Black Restaurant Week, which ends on Jan. 29. Organized by Long Beach Food & Beverage, Long Beach Restaurant Week is an eight-day event celebrating African, African American and Caribbean fare in and around Long Beach. Also highlighted are Black-owned food businesses as well as Black chefs and bartenders.
On Jan. 26 join a pop-up chef event celebrating Long Beach Restaurant Week at Cove Hotel (200 E. Willow St., Long Beach).
Twenty-five restaurants are represented at this week-long event. Below there are descriptions of a few of the participants to activate your salivary glands:
Northtown Bistro operates as a pop-up restaurant in Long Beach, offering comfort foods of all sorts at any given time where ever they pop up. Check out their Instagram page @northtownbistro to get a sense of what the Bistro is cooking with.

Bouje Crab is on everyone’s radar for some authentic cajun cuisine. This is a brick-and-mortar restaurant that breathes new life into the Southern California landscape of New Orleans cajun cuisine. Their menu includes Cajun Crawfish & Shrimp Nachos, New Orleans Style Gumbo, Cajun shrimp or lobster mac n cheese; loaded Shrimp Fries, their whole menu is food porn of the most decadent sort.
