Pajama Party For A Good Cause
On Dec. 6, Food Finders and the Second District office will take casual wear to the extreme with a citywide “Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day” asking residents, office workers and anyone who feels inclined to don pajamas for the day and donate a pair of new pajamas to the young, in-need residents of Long Beach and its surrounding communities.
Local businesses are encouraged to participate as a drop off location by calling 562.283.1400 extension 101. Residents are encouraged to bring pajamas and related items to current donation drop off locations, which include the Second Council District office at City Hall, Food Finders office The Federal Bar on Pine Avenue, Apostrophe Books and Sababa Restaurant and Lounge in the Marketplace on Pacific Coast Highway and 2nd Street.
New pajamas, slippers, books and robes for children aged infant to 18 years old will be accepted through Dec. 18. Those donating will be rewarded with a certificate for a complimentary appetizer at Sababa Restaurant & Lounge (www.gosababa.com).

Chat with Pat “2013 Year in Review”
Participate in the last ‘Chat with Pat’ of 2013, at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 4, welcoming Deputy City Manager Tom Modica, who will give some highlights of the past year.
Modica recently was promoted after serving as the director of governmental affairs and strategic initiatives.

Rules to Remember at Belmont Shore Christmas Parade
The Long Beach Police Department is encouraging all attendees to comply with all laws at the annual Belmont Shore Christmas Parade, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. Dec. 7.
–Allow yourself plenty of time to find LEGAL parking.
–Sidewalk areas and center medians CANNOT be reserved with personal property until 5 p.m.
–The public is also reminded that the law strictly prohibits the consumption of alcoholic beverages on public property.
–Laws regarding under-age drinking and/or possession of alcohol will also be enforced.
–Street vendors selling items without a business license are subject to citation or arrest and may have their property confiscated.
–NO dispensing of Silly String … violators may be cited for littering
–Parade goers are reminded to report any suspicious activity immediately to the nearest officer or by calling 9-1-1.
Affected streets closures and times are as follows:
–Livingston Avenue will be closed from Ocean Boulevard to Second Street at 2 p.m. for staging parade participants
–At 4 p.m., all north/south streets from Quincy to Claremont Avenues will be closed up to the immediate alleyways that run parallel to 2ndStreet on both the south and north sides
–Second Street will be closed from Livingston Drive to Bayshore Avenue at 5 p.m.
–All roads should be reopened to traffic by 11 p.m.
Candidate Workshop
A candidate orientation workshop take place, at 10 a.m. Dec. 16, 2013, at City Hall Council Chambers. Packets will be issued to potential candidates for city elective offices. The workshop will take about two hours and questions will be answered regarding campaign finance, matching funds, electioneering and political signs.
To be eligible for an elective office in Long Beach, a person must be a legally registered voter and resident of city at least 30 days immediately preceding the last day (January 10, 2014) upon which candidates are permitted to file nominating petitions for office with the Long Beach City Clerk.
The City Clerk Department invites all interested parties to attend.
If the potential candidate does not plan to attend then he/she must complete and issue the Authorization to Receive Candidate Nomination Documents Form (found athttp://www.longbeach.gov/
