Residents and neighborhood councils are invited to participate in Pacific Environment and C40 Cities’ upcoming Green Shipping community workshop, in cooperation with the San Pedro Bay ports, Los Angeles Deputy Mayor for Energy and Sustainability Nancy Sutley, and SCAQMD Board Chair Vanessa Delgado, on Nov. 14. The purpose of this event is to provide the community an interactive opportunity to learn about shipping decarbonization, leading initiatives and key stakeholders.

The community workshop will include three main sessions:

An interactive exposition session, where the community can learn about decarbonization initiatives and activities from around the world

A panel session featuring the ports, Los Angeles Deputy Mayor for Energy and Sustainability Nancy Sutley, and South Coast Air Quality Management District board chair Vanessa Delgado

A Q&A session for the community to engage directly with the panelists

Topics addressed during this workshop will include international, national, state, and regional activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping and improve air quality, as well as updates on the ports’ green shipping corridor initiatives with Shanghai and Singapore to secure benefits locally. Gain insight from policymakers and staff from the ports, City of Los Angeles, and South Coast Air Quality Management District into their vision for a cleaner and greener port and shipping future.

Learn, interact and contribute to a more sustainable shipping future. Complimentary vegan dinner will be served, and Spanish translation will be provided. People who RSVP will also receive a link for a live streaming option.
