LOS ANGELES — More than 90% of educators across all six campuses of Citizens of the World charter schools have voted to unionize as the CWC Educators United chapter of United Teacher Los Angeles, a step aimed at enhancing education quality and working conditions across all campuses. This move seeks to amplify family and educators’ voices in the decision-making processes, ensure a collaborative approach to improve learning and working conditions, and underscore their commitment to diversity, transparency, and community collaboration.
Some key goals of CWC unionization efforts include:
Respecting and uplifting family and educators’ voices in all decision-making processes impacting teaching and learning conditions
Promoting transparency in the school budgeting process to ensure maximum allocation of resources into the classroom
Recruiting, retaining, and developing highly qualified educators
Providing proper support at schools to ensure educators can focus on teaching
On June 11, educator leaders at Citizens of the World Charter Schools Los Angeles publicly announced their unionization efforts.
