Long Beach Briefs: City Expands Ride Circuit and Mobile Access Center Increases Access to Homelessness Services

Long Beach Ride Circuit Expands

LONG BEACH — Long Beach City Council Feb. 6 approved an item introduced that will expand the micro-transit shuttle service provided by Circuit Transit, Inc. The city will now see service in the geographic area stretching from downtown Long Beach to Alamitos Bay, including the Alamitos Beach and Belmont Shore areas, connecting these areas into one cohesive coverage area. Expanding the current service will enhance the connectivity and mobility options for the residents and visitors in these areas.

One of the goals of the program is to attract new transit riders by connecting them to and from their final destinations. Ride Circuit aims to reduce dependence on personal vehicles, improve traffic and promote accessibility to businesses.

Find Mobile Access Center at Multiple Locations Daily In LB

LONG BEACH — The Mobile Access Center or MAC vehicle is a new form of street outreach that allows staff to begin the intake process on the street with people experiencing homelessness beyond the city’s Multi-Service Center or MSC.

The MAC serves as an extension of the Homeless Services Bureau, including REACH, Homeless Outreach Services and the MSC. This approach increases access to services and resources for people experiencing homelessness, including case management, homeless prevention, connection to mental health services, mail services, connections to housing and more.

Staffed by members of the Homeless Services Bureau and a public health nurse, the vehicle allows clients to receive direct services including routine health checkups.

Find MAC at two locations each day one in the morning and another in the afternoon at various locations throughout Long Beach.

If you are trying to help someone experiencing homelessness through outreach, please contact 562-570- 4672 or email HomelessServices@longbeach.gov.
