Join Esotouric for an immersive time travel trip in the footsteps of novelist and screenwriter John Fante through downtown Los Angeles and Bunker Hill. Fante’s family and Bunker Hill native Gordon Pattison will join this special birthday edition of the tour. The tour will end with a photo op under the marquee of the historic Million Dollar Theatre on Broadway that will honor Fante, and birthday cake.
John Fante (1909-1983) was Charles Bukowski’s favorite writer, his Ask the Dust was the book Robert Towne wanted to film after “Chinatown” (it finally was made in 2006) and he is honored with an annual festival in Italy. And while his fame in his adopted city has been slow to arrive, Fante might be the funniest, most heartwarming, honest and appealing writer to ever take this city as his subject.
