Memories Made at the New Blues Festival

The New Blues Fest in Long Beach ended on Sept. 4, but the memories of the electrifying performances and my talks with famous blues artists still lingers.

Debi of Debi and The Groove Makers was bubbly and charming in her vintage attire as she started off the afternoon festivities on the Golden Groove stage. Talking to her just as she came off stage, she was gracious and quite pleased to be performing this year.

Ray Goren was hot with his blues and rock guitar skills and kept the audience engaged and happy.

Late in the day, South Side Slim and The Blues Cat’s officially brought down the house, on the Golden Groove Stage. With no less than three encores, South Side Slim and band garnered outspoken appreciation of their authentic blues playing from the fans.

Closing the festivities was an energetic show from The Lee Rocker Band. They played a mix of old favorites from The Stray Cats and some new material as well. The audience enjoyed their trip down memory lane and their lively performance.
