ARTS Announcements: Fundraiser for Cuba and SP Waterfront Arts District Grant RFP

Join a fundraiser for youth going to Cuba. This event is part of activities leading up to a large delegation of labor and youth activists going to Cuba for May Day. The delegation, sponsored and hosted by the Cuban Trade Union Federation or CTC has been invited to participate in their international union gathering and internship called Pasantia and then join the May Day march, International Solidarity Conference and other events.

The event features Lincoln Crushing (via Zoom) author of political poster art specializing in Cuba. Docs Populi/Documents for the Public, Berkeley CA.; Conga Poet: drumming with political protest songs and poetry; KORDAVISION, excerpts from the film about Cuba’s most famous photographer, especially known for his portraits of Che and Fidel; Rosa Naday Garmendia, Cuban artist and activist who lives and works between Miami and Havana; Sam Ceja, Center for the Study of Political Graphics, assistant archivist; Amanee Izhaq, Palestinian poet and activist

Through accessible micro grants, our intention is to help you generate art, music and cultural events, workshops, festivals, and more. Arts United aims to nourish the thriving arts ecosystem in San Pedro by inviting you to plant seeds of creativity for all generations of community members to enjoy.
