A Tragic Accident at the Port of LA Has Left One Person Dead

Around 10:40 am the Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched to Berth 270 in the Port of LA for a reported technical rescue for a person trapped.

When firefighters arrived at the location near Terminal Way and Barracuda Street they found one person trapped under a forklift. Paramedics were brought in and determined the person to be deceased.

Urban Search and Rescue specialists continued their response to the scene where they were able to stabilize the heavy equipment so authorities can tape off the scene while the investigation is underway.

CalOSHa has been notified and will be handling the investigation with the authorities and Coroner’s office.
