Port of Long Beach Opens its Doors to Engineers: Explore Opportunities and Innovation at Exclusive Open House Event

LONG BEACH  —The Port of Long Beach will host an “Engineering Open House” for engineering professionals and students to find out more about staff career positions offered at the nation’s second-busiest port March 9.

In its aim to build the port of the future, the Port of Long Beach’s engineering bureau is looking for established, up and coming, and student engineers who may want to join the port’s team of in-house engineers who are re-imagining, re-making and maintaining the port’s physical infrastructure.

Opportunities exist in the port’s program management, construction management, design and project controls engineering divisions.

“We’re planning more than $2 billion worth of capital improvements to the Port over the next 10 years, as we enhance the efficiency, velocity and environmental sustainability of cargo movement,” said Port of Long Beach CEO Mario Cordero. “Our engineers are the ones who will make that happen.”

Guests at the Engineering Open House will be able to speak with port engineers and human resources professionals about joining the POLB team. Opportunities will be available to apply for certain positions at the event.

Those who RSVP will be eligible for free parking.

Time:  9 a.m. to 1 p.m., March 9

Cost: Free
