Announcements of Interest For LA County: NC Budget Day Zoom, Foster Youth Income Program and World Refugee Day Celebration

Neighborhood Council Budget Day, June 17

You are invited to participate in learning more about the Los Angeles City Budget June 17.

Budget Day will be held via Zoom with a Plenary Session consisting of keynote speakers and a panel on the theme “Restart, Reform, Refocus” followed by regional breakout sessions.

Keynote Speakers will include Mayor Karen Bass, Controller Kenneth Mejia, Council President Paul Krekorian, and Chair of the Budget, Finance, and Innovation Committee Bob Blumenfield.

This will be the last budget day online via Zoom. Following the plenary session, there will be regional breakout sessions to discuss city services in your neighborhood.

Former Foster Youth? Apply for $1,000 Per Month

Los Angeles is opening a guaranteed income program for former foster youth who qualify. This guaranteed income will be $1,000 per month for two years and will be given to successful applicants who are former foster youth between the ages of 21 and 23. The application opens at 6 a.m., June 20, and is open until 11:59 p.m. July 3.

Celebrate World Refugee Day in L.A. County

The United Nations has designated June 20 as World Refugee Day, a global occasion to recognize the resilience and strength of refugees to raise awareness of their struggles and contributions. Join the Refugee Forum of Los Angeles for a World Refugee Day celebration, June 20 in downtown L.A. There will be resources, workshops, live entertainment, and more.
