Gov. Newsom Announces Appointment: Long Beach

SACRAMENTO Gov. Gavin Newsom March 22 announced the following appointment:

Gloria Cordero, of Long Beach, has been appointed to the Colorado River Board. Cordero has been president of Long Beach Utilities since 2015 and represents the City of Long Beach on the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California Board of Directors. She is also a member of the board of the DigDEEP Navajo Water Project. Cordero was a partner at ABC Advocacy from 2007 to 2011 and served as director of community outreach in the City of Long Beach Mayor’s Office from 2007 to 2011. She was director of government affairs at Long Beach City College from 2000 to 2001 and the region manager of public affairs at Southern California Edison from 1983 to 2000. She earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Southern California. Cordero is married to the director of the Port of Long Beach, Mario Cordero. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Cordero is a Democrat.
