The Pacific Merchant Shipping Association and Port of Los Angeles will hold the seventh annual “State of the Port” event at 12 p.m. Jan. 20. The event features Port Executive Director Gene Seroka, who will provide year-end cargo numbers, as well as an overview of key Port initiatives, priorities and plans for the future.
Held virtually this year due to COVID protocols, the event is free but requires advanced registration to attend. Interested individuals can register here to secure a link to the online event.
Sponsorships are also still available through the PMSA, with all proceeds going to support two local nonprofit organizations, EXP and the International Seafarers Center of LA/LB. EXP provides youth maritime education programs to thousands of local area high school students every year. The Seafarers Center provides a host of services to seafarers arriving daily at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Since 2016, the annual State of the Port of Los Angeles event has raised more than $140,000 in event proceeds for these two nonprofit organizations.
