Long Beach City Council

The Long Beach City Council will consider the appointment of Lori Ann Farrell to the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioner during its 5 p.m. meeting Dec. 3.

The city council also will consider requesting that the city attorney change the a city ordinance to include electronic cigarettes, vapor devices and other devices that have nicotine in the definition of tobacco products. This is so that they are regulated in accordance, prohibiting their use in “no smoking” areas.

In addition, the council will consider having the city attorney draft an ordinance to regulate outdoor donation collection bins, so that they require a city permit and written permission of property owner where the bin is placed. The ordinance also would require that an employee watch over the donation bins at all times that donations are being accepted.

Council members also will vote on adopting a resolution for full support of having Boeing Co. bring the 777x assembly work to Long Beach.

Other items at the council meeting include the declaration of an ordinance regulating skateboarding in the city and an ordinance delegating to the Board of Harbor Commissioners the authority to enforce statutes within the 4801 Airport Plaza Drive building.
