Murder Suspect Arrested

LONG BEACH — Long Beach Police Department officers arrested 19-year-old Joel Torres, March 24, on suspicion of the murder of his step-father Rogelio Aguirre-Lopez.

The LBPD responded to a call about a shooting, at about 11 p.m. March 24, near 69^th Street and Long Beach Boulevard. Aguirre-Lopez, a Compton resident, was on the ground and pronounced dead at the scene when officers arrived. Witnesses told officers that the suspect still was in a nearby apartment complex, where officers arrested him.

Torres was booked for murder and is being held at the Long Beach City Jail on $1 million bail.
