LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass today announced new members of the communications office.
De’Marcus Finnell will serve as press secretary for the communications office of the Office of Mayor Karen Bass. Prior to joining the office, Finnell served as the deputy press secretary at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development or HUD, where he led communication rollouts for secretary Marcia L. Fudge and agency efforts. His portfolio included housing and homelessness, Public and Indian Housing, Community Planning and Development, Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes, and Black constituency media. Additional duties included developing and executing press strategy, drafting press releases, and managing relationships with national reporters and journalists.
Jourdan Embry will serve as the executive and press assistant in the communications office of the Office of Mayor Karen Bass. Embry is a Southern California native and graduate of the “real HU,” Howard University. She has a B.A. in Media, Journalism and Film. She has worked in the entertainment industry as both an executive assistant and writers’ assistant.
