LOS ANGELES — Mayor Bass announced the appointment of Matt Hale as deputy mayor of finance, operations and innovation following the announcement that deputy mayor Jeanne Holm will retire from the city.
“Matt brings more than a decade of experience working in City Hall on the annual budgetary process and in partnership with City departments for the good of Angelenos,” said Mayor Karen Bass. “I look forward to working with Matt in this new role, and I want to thank Jeanne Holm for her leadership as Deputy Mayor of Finance and Innovation this year.”
As deputy mayor of finance, operations and innovation, Hale will oversee departments that provide core services to the city in hiring, technology and facilities management, as well as the city’s annual budgeting process. For the last year, Hale has served as the director of legislative and intergovernmental affairs for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and previously served as deputy chief of staff for Councilmember Paul Krekorian and as a legislative consultant in the California State Assembly. He brings extensive experience with the city’s budgetary process, serving as the councilmember’s primary staff member for the Los Angeles city council’s budget and finance committee from 2012-2022. Hale completed his undergraduate degree in Government at California State University, Sacramento. He resides in Sylmar.
