LA County Library Named Finalist for 2023 IMLS National Medal for IMLS National Medal for Museum and Library Service

LOS ANGELES COUNTY —  Los Angeles County Library is among 30 finalists for the 2023 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. The Institute of Museum and Library Services announced the news March 28. LA County Library is one of six institutions in California to be selected as a finalist for this award.

The National Medal is the nation’s highest honor given to museums and libraries that demonstrate significant impact in their communities. For more than 25 years, the award has honored institutions that demonstrate excellence in service to their communities.

“LA County Library is deeply honored to be a finalist for the 2023 IMLS National Medal,” said Library Director Skye Patrick. “LA County Library is dedicated to removing barriers to access and increasing equitable opportunities for all in Los Angeles County, and this nomination is a testament to the vital work our staff is doing on a daily basis to improve quality of life for LA communities, helping residents of all ages learn, grow, and thrive.”

To celebrate this honor, IMLS is encouraging LA County Library’s community members to share stories, memories, pictures, and videos on social media using the hashtags #ShareYourStory and #IMLSmedals, and engage with IMLS on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
