Cannon Battle Sails
Get ready to rock the harbor aboard Los Angeles’ official tall ships, from 2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 27 and 28, in San Pedro.
The cost is $60 for adults and $40 for children.

Dec. 29
The Nature Center is hosting fun workshops over winter break for children 5 to 8 years old, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Dec. 29 through 31, at the El Dorado Nature Center in Long Beach.

Nature’s Itty Bitty Recycling Crew, where children will lean about the tiny creatures that help forests grow takes place Dec. 29; Guess Whooooo…? takes place Dec. 30; and Call of the of Wild takes place Dec. 31.

These workshops are $15.

Dec. 31
Peacemaker of the Year
The Long Beach Area Peace Network is presenting the annual Peacemaker of the Year Celebration, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 31, at the Laborers’ Local 1309 in Long Beach.
This year they are doing a New Year’s Eve in New York theme.

George Carson, Los Angeles Pioneer
Judson Grenier from Cal State University Dominguez Hills will be featured, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 4, as part of the San Pedro Bay Historical Society’s First Sunday Speaker Series at the San Pedro Library.

Jan. 3
Creation Station
Children, ages 6 through 11, are invited to participate in a free drop-in craft and activities program called Creation Station, from 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 3, at Rancho Los Cerritos in Long Beach.
January’s theme, Winter Wonderland, will include take-home crafts and activities that feature snowmen, snowflakes, and sparkly candles.

Jan. 7
Join Little Squirts
Little Squirts is offered for 2 to 4 year-olds participating with their parent(s) or guardian(s), for four consecutive, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 7 through Jan. 28, at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium.
Each four-class series includes arts and crafts, movement and music to introduce marine life to toddlers.
The cost for four weekly sessions is $30 ($27 members) and includes a child’s Little Squirts T-shirt.  Financial assistance is available. Pre-registration is required, please no walk-ins.

Salt Marsh Open House
Step out into nature and discover the hidden world of the Salinas de San Pedro Salt Marsh, from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 11, at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium.
Educators and Coastal Park Naturalists will help uncover the world of mud and water that is the local wetland.
