Free Mammograms
Free mammograms will offered, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 24, at the YWCA of the Harbor Area and South Bay.

Jan. 26
Second District E-waste, Recycling Drive
Get rid of all sorts of items in your home following the holidays in a fast and convenient way, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 26, on the Broadway Parking Lot, near Broadway and Long Beach Boulevard in Long Beach.
In addition to electronic waste, large appliances such as refrigerators, washers and stoves, referred to as “white waste,” will be accepted.
“Bulk item” drop-offs such as sofas, mattresses, chairs and other big items taking up space in your garage will also be accepted.
E-waste includes computers, monitors, keyboards, TVS, DVD players, fax machines, printers, digital clocks, cell phones and digital cameras.
Also accepted:
~ Shredding first box free – $5 each additional box
~ Gently used clothing, accessories and other items
~ Household batteries only will be accepted
~ Cell phones will be donated to Interval House Crisis Center to help battered spouses and children successfully transition out of abusive homes
Industrial e-waste, other household hazardous waste or fluorescent tubes will NOT be accepted.

Excellence in Leadership Speakers Series
Participate in Marymount College’s Excellence in Leadership Speakers Series, at 7 p.m. Jan. 28, Feb. 25 and April 8, at at the Auditorium on the Main Campus in Rancho Pallos verdes
As part of this mission, the college is bringing prominent California leaders to the Rancho Palos Verdes campus to discuss leadership challenges and opportunities in the 21st century.
Coming from many different backgrounds with a wide range of perspectives on the world, the speakers have one thing in common: they have all achieved excellence as 21st century leaders.
The event is free.

LA River Revitalization
Carol Armstrong, project manager of the LA River revitalization effort, will share slides and discuss the City of Los Angeles’ plan for the Los Angeles River, from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 30, at the Community Room of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Library in Rolling Hills.
The plan envisions an extensive network of parks, trails, wildlife habitat, recreation and community amenities along the River’s 64 miles.
