Monster Ball
The Center Long Beach’s Mentoring Youth Through Empowerment program presents the 3rd Annual Monster Ball, from 7 to 10 p.m. Jan. 19.
This event will feature a live disc jockey, dancing, games, great raffle prizes and a drag show. The event is open to all high school aged youth (valid student ID required), Monster Ball is a great opportunity for LGBTQ youth and their friends to hang out in a safe and supportive environment, have some fun, and just be themselves.

Joe La Barbera Quintet
The Joe La Barbera Quintet will be performing, at 8 p.m. Jan. 19, at Alvas Showroom in San Pedro.

Bongo Fury Remixed
Harvelle’s will be showing Bongo Fury Remixed, Jan. 25, at 9:30 p.m. Nobody under the age of 21 will be allowed and a two-drink minimum purchase will be required from all those attending. Ticket prices will range from $10 to $50. Tickets can be purchased by going online at the website below.

The Fabulous Esquires Big Band
The People’s Yoga Health and Dance will host the Fabulous Esquires Big Band, Jan. 25, starting at 7 p.m. The band will be giving lessons until 8 p.m. The performance will take place after the lessons. Refreshment will be served on the house, and tickets will cost $25 at the door and $15 if you pay in advance.

Jeff Hamilton Trio

La Charanga Cubana
The Grand Annex Theatre presents La Charanga Cubana,  Jan. 26, at 8:30 p.m. La Charanga is a Cuban dance musical delivering old-style Cuban music. This ensemble will be featuring vocals, violin, flute, congas, trumpet and timbales, performed in the classic Charanga style. Tickets will cost $20 in advance or $25 at the door. VIP seating will cost $28 in advance and $35 at the door. This includes VIP seating and one bar ticket with any purchase of a VIP ticket.

Philip Glass’ Fall of the House of Usher
The Long Beach Opera presents to you, at the Warner Grand Theatre, Philip Glass’ Fall of the House of Usher, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. As one of Edgar Allan Poe’s most unsettling stories, Fall of the House of Usher, explores a time where it is best to confront your fears and nightmares, and also deduct the fine line between reality and your imagination. Phillip Glass’ music provides an eerie sound for this journey. Tickets range anywhere from $29 to $160, proportional to your seating.
