Overturn Citizens United
The Environmental Priorities Network invites you to attend a public forum on “Overturn Citizens United,” which will take place at 9 a.m. Sept. 27, at the Pacific Unitarian Church.
Three outstanding speakers will discuss how we can strengthen our democracy and reclaim it from corporate dominance.  They are Michael Tucker, a coordinator for Move to Amend.  John Smith, a Southern California Common Cause organizer, and Alison Hartson, a California State Director of Wolf PAC.

Sept. 27
Prescription Drug Collection
The Long Beach Police Department is participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Pharmaceutical Take-Back initiative, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 27, at Long Beach Memorial Hospital.
This initiative seeks to prevent increased pill abuse and theft through the collection of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. The event will offer a drive-thru service that is free and anonymous. The driver of the 25th, 50th, 75th, and 100th participating vehicle will be awarded a pair of Aquarium of the Pacific tickets.

Sept. 27
Healthy Active Long Beach Fruit and Veggie Party on Sept. 27

The Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services’ Healthy Active Long Beach Project invites the community to attend the 2nd Annual free “Fruit and Veggie Party,” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 27 at Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
Attendees will receive health and nutrition information, can sample healthy recipes, get tours of the garden and start their own vegetable garden, participate in yoga, zumba, and/or martial arts demonstrations, and children can participate in hands-on bike safety lessons from Safe Moves.

San Pedro Urban Greening Project
The Greater Downtown San Pedro Urban Greening Project will deliver an Urban Greening Implementation Plan, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 2, at the Warner Grand Theatre.
the Project Team of LA Conservation Corps, Clean San Pedro and Melendrez Design Consultants and members of the Urban Greening Advisory Committee will present the elements of the Draft San Pedro Urban Greening Plan with a Design Workshop #2.
Design Workshop #2 represents the initial results from the community-based planning process, representing the input from the diverse array of San Pedro community stakeholders.

Oct. 11 
Gay Men’s Health Summit 
Come celebrate National Coming Out Day at an event full of wellness, Oct. 11, at the Courtyard Marriot in Long Beach.
This one day event will focus on gay men’s general, mental and sexual health. Participate in workshops, listen to guest speakers and panelists presenting on important issues for today’s gay, bisexual, and/or gender fluid men.
This free all day summit includes workshops, panels, guest speakers, and entertainer focused on creating a safe space for gay men to learn more about health, relationships and intimacy, spirituality, PrEP/PEP, aging and coming out.

TraPac: Raise One Crane, Lengthen Boom
The Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners will host a public hearing for comments about a proposed project to raise one crane and lengthen boom at Berths 136-137.
The public hearing will take place at 8:30 a.m. Oct.16, at the Port of Los Angeles Board Room.

Wanted Human Trafficking Suspects Video Footage
The Long Beach Police Department is working a human trafficking investigation involving a minor.
The department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects and vehicle wanted in connection with this case.
In this video, the suspects’ vehicle (upper left corner of frame), which appears to be a newer white 4-door sedan, is seen leaving the parking lot after the suspects and victim walked out of the store.   Anyone with information regarding this vehicle or the suspects is urged to call (562) 570-7219 or visit www.lacrimestoppers.org.
