CBP Intercepts Bike Stolen 46 Years Ago

Los Angeles — U.S. Customs and Border Protection enforcement officers, the National Insurance Crime Bureau agents and the California Highway Patrol investigators recently recovered a 1953 Triumph motorcycle that was stolen more than 46 years ago from a backyard in Omaha, Neb. During the night of Feb. 4 or 5, 1967.

The Omaha patrolman’s stolen vehicle report about the blue- and black- colored, Tiger T 100 model bike noted it was parked in the rear yard all winter and a gate on the wood fence was forced.  Not insured, its value was $300 then.  Destined to Yokohama, Japan, the manifested value was $9,000.

On Oct. 30, CBP seized the vehicle and then turned it over to CHP to return to rightful owner.

Its rightful owner is about 72 years old now and still lives in Omaha.  He would have been about 26 years old at that time.  His bike is now 60 years old.
