LB City Council Adopts FY 2024 Budget

LONG BEACH — The Long Beach City Council Sept 5 voted to adopt the City of Long Beach’s $3.2 billion budget for fiscal year 2024 or FY24.

The Adopted FY 24 budget maintains current services while making significant one-time investments in key priority areas in line with the Long Beach Strategic Vision 2030, including commitment towards major infrastructure projects through the Elevate ’28 Plan. While many areas could use additional resources, notably this is a “no cuts” budget. Long Beach is a full-service city and the Proposed FY 24 budget maintains all services at the FY 23 level.

LB Drink Safety Test Kits

LONG BEACH ––The City of Long Beach Health Department has launched SipSafe Long Beach, a new initiative that promotes public safety by distributing drink safety test kits that detect illegal substances in beverages. LB Health Department has acquired the drink safety testing kits and will implement a comprehensive approach to equitably distribute them to requesting businesses and organizations throughout the city.

As the city continues to grow, it is important that it takes additional steps to ensure the safety of patrons at alcohol-licensed establishments.

To ensure equitable distribution of the kits among business and organizations throughout the city, the Health Department has developed a Drink Safety Test Kit Request Form. The form is available online in English, Spanish, Khmer and Tagalog.

The goal of SipSafe Long Beach is to promote drink testing in the community and ensure drink safety resources are readily accessible.
