Artist Statement – Reidar Schopp
Reidar’s photographs at Collage are from three bodies of work: Boxed, Bound, and Free. The first cycle, Boxed, is a series of surprising variations of bodies inside boxes representing the many walls we build during our lifetimes. The next cycle, Bound, employs Shibari, the Japanese art of rope bondage, to symbolize constraints. Free is a set of landscapes depicting life without limitations.
You are invited to join Reidar Schopp’s infrared photography lecture 2 to 3 p.m., Aug. 26. Also, from the artists exhibition, see surprising, joyful, sometimes poignant images that many will find relatable, within their subconscious.
When asked for a statement the artist said, “I prefer to let my images speak to each viewer about their beliefs and thoughts.”
