Harbor Scenic Drive in the Port of Long Beach will temporarily close for several weekends starting the evening of Aug. 4, as work crews repair the roadway.
The closures on Harbor Scenic between Harbor Plaza and Ocean Boulevard will potentially impact drivers headed to Piers G, H and J at the Port of Long Beach, the Queen Mary, the Carnival Cruise terminal and nearby hospitality businesses.
Detours will be available using a combination of Pico Avenue and Harbor Plaza for heavy-duty vehicles. Cars and pickup trucks will also have the option of using Queensway Bridge to access the area from downtown Long Beach.
Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone, heed the direction of Harbor Patrol officers and follow designated detour routes.
Southbound Harbor Scenic Drive will be closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Aug. 4; from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 5 and Aug. 6; and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 26.
Northbound Harbor Scenic Drive will be closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Aug. 18; from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 19 and Aug. 20; and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 27.
Southbound Detour: Exit 710 South/Harbor Scenic at Pico Avenue just south of Ocean Boulevard. Turn left at Harbor Plaza and follow Harbor Plaza either to the continuation of southbound Harbor Scenic or to the hospitality businesses – hotels, restaurants, Queen Mary, and the Carnival Cruise terminal.
Cars and pickup trucks can also take Queensway Bridge south from downtown to Harbor Plaza east exit. Turn left on Harbor Plaza and reach your destination.
Northbound Detour: Head west on Harbor Plaza from Harbor Scenic and continue around to Pico Avenue and follow to 710 north on-ramp.
Cars and pickup trucks can also take Harbor Plaza to the on-ramp to Queensway Bridge, to access downtown.
