Hahn Offers $10k Reward in Murder of Long Beach 12-year-old

LONG BEACH — The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors June 6 unanimously approved a motion by Chair Janice Hahn to establish a reward offer for information regarding the murder of a Long Beach 12-year-old last month.

On May 9, 2023, at approximately 11:32 p.m., 12-year-old Eric Gregory Brown III was walking on the sidewalk with friends near the 2200 block of Lewis Avenue in Long Beach when he was approached by a vehicle containing at least two male suspects and shot multiple times. He was transported to local hospitals by Long Beach Fire Department personnel along with a 14-year-old female victim who was also shot. Tragically, Eric’s injuries were life-threatening, and he passed away.

The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to establish the offer of a reward in the amount of $10,000 in exchange for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the person(s) responsible for this murder.

There is limited suspect information at this time. The Long Beach Police Department is investigating the homicide and believes a reward could bring attention to the case and encourage witnesses that might have seen or know the identity of the suspect or suspects to come forward and bring justice to the victim and his family.

Supervisor Hahn urges anyone with information to contact Homicide Detectives Michael Hubbard or Jesus Espinoza at 562- 570-7244. Anonymous tips may be submitted by calling 800-222-8477.
