LONG BEACH— The Museum of Latin American Art or MOLAA Oct. 28 announced that it is a recipient of a multi-year operating support grant from the Perenchio Foundation. The announcement was made by Lourdes I. Ramos-Rivas, Ph.D., president and CEO of MOLAA. The grant in the amount of $2,550,000, is to be paid over three years.
“The Museum of Latin American Art is deeply honored and appreciative of the grant awarded by the Perenchio Foundation that allows MOLAA, the only accredited museum by the AAM exclusively dedicated to Latin American and Latinx art, to continue offering exhibition and education programming of the highest quality to the Los Angeles County community and all our visitors,” said Dr. Ramos-Rivas. “This grant acknowledges the work MOLAA has been doing for the past 26 years to share Latin American and Latinx art and providing support for our community.”
MOLAA was selected for the grant based on its vital role in the community, its pursuit of excellence, the impact of the museum’s programming, and its strategic operational plan to accomplish its goals. The multi-year grant is intended to be flexible and to support MOLAA’s efforts to strengthen capacity, help cover day-to-day expenses, invest in organizational learning, and/or hire more staff. Multi-year operating support grants provide significant unrestricted operating support over three years. Recipients are small and mid-sized organizations whose mission is anchored on providing arts programming in Los Angeles County.
Local arts organizations are at the very heart of LA’s vibrant creative scene. They help drive our economy, create new opportunities, and deepen cultural empathy,” Perenchio Foundation Executive Director Stephania Ramirez said. “We are investing in these vital organizations to help them build a foundation to thrive and grow.”
These grants help arts organizations across Los Angeles County build their capacity and resilience. Through significant unrestricted grants, small and mid-sized organizations get the support they need to strengthen their infrastructure, expand their ability to serve communities, and create impactful experiences for current and future generations. Organizations eligible for funding are 501 c (3) and/or fiscally sponsored organizations in and serving Los Angeles County with an annual operating budget of $15 million or less.
