Hahn Announces $30 Million in Grants For Stormwater Capture

LOS ANGELES Supervisor Janice Hahn has announced that 13 cities and unincorporated areas in her district have been awarded grants totaling $30 million dollars from the County of Los Angeles for stormwater capture infrastructure projects.  

The grants are part of the Safe, Clean Water Program paid for by revenue raised through the Measure W tax, approved by voters in 2018. Measure W generates about $140.7 million annually across LA County for projects to improve the local water supply.

In Supervisor Hahn’s Fourth District, grants were awarded to projects in the cities of Long Beach, Lakewood, Bellflower, Norwalk, Downey, Paramount, Cerritos, Manhattan Beach, Torrance, Los Angeles (Wilmington), Rolling Hills Estates, Diamond Bar, and the unincorporated community of South Whittier.  

The Stormwater Investment Plan for Fiscal Year 2021-2022, which includes the funding for these projects, was approved unanimously Sept. 16,  by the Board of Supervisors.

Breakdown of grants for local city’s below: *  indicates funding for technical support to projects such as studies, design, etc. All other funding is for construction and infrastructure.

Long Beach

Long Beach Municipal Urban Stormwater Treatment (LB MUST):  $5,000,000

El Dorado Regional Park: $2,100,000

Skylinks Golf Course at Wardlow Stormwater Capture Project: $1,638,457

Torrance

Stormwater Basin Expansion Project: $4,505,000

*Parkway BMPs for Dominguez Channel/ Harbors: $300,000

Wilmington

Neighborhood Greening Project Wilmington: $662,727

Rolling Hills Estates

*Palos Verdes Peninsula Multi-Benefit Flow Diversion Project: $300,000
