San Pedro Democratic Club Meeting
The last meeting before the May 21 election will feature visits from endorsed candidates (or their representatives) for mayor, city attorney and controller, plus a discussion of its plans for the remainder of 2013, from 7 to 8:45 p.m. May 13, at The Whale & Ale Restaurant in San Pedro.

April 27
Community Forum on Violence Prevention on Saturday
The City of Long Beach is hosting a series of community forums inviting the public to learn about the planning process and how to get involved.
The second meeting of its kind is scheduled, from 1 to 4 p.m. April 27, at Silverado Park in Long Beach.
The City of Long is developing a comprehensive Long Beach Violence Prevention Plan.
Translation services will be provided, and child care will be available for children ages 5 to 12.
Two additional community forums are being scheduled on Saturday, June 1, and Thursday, June 20. Meeting details, including locations, will be available online at www.lbvpp.com by the end of April.

Beach Cities Health District Seeks Advisory Committee Members
Beach Cities Health District’s board of directors is seeking applicants to serve on advisory committees in the Beach Cities.
Committee members serve two-year terms and have a direct impact on the health and wellness programs and services. Meetings are generally scheduled evenings on a quarterly basis.
The following committees are seeking candidates:
Community Health Committee
Identifies and advises the board on community health and wellness concerns, monitors the availability of community health resources and recommends areas for programs and services.
Strategic Planning Committee
Helps the Board formulate and fulfill the vision, mission and goals of Beach Cities Health District.
Finance Committee
Works with the Board to ensure the financial health of Beach Cities Health District.
Committee members must reside in Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach or Manhattan Beach.

Audio Recordings, Electronic Copies Available to Voters
City Clerk June Lagmay reminds voters that audio recordings of the Official Sample Ballot and Voter Information Pamphlet (OSB/VIP), electronic versions of the OSB/VIP (also known as the E-Sample Ballot), and multilingual voter assistance are now available for the May 21, 2013 General Municipal and Special Elections.
Voters may access their OSB/VIP and ballot measure information in English and the eight federally-mandated languages on the Election Division’s website, http://clerk.lacity.org/Elections/ under the “Multilingual Services” section and/or “Voters” tab.
In addition, for the first time, voters can sign up to receive the City’s OSB/VIP electronically.  The Division has partnered with the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk to allow OSB/VIPs to be sent via email.  Voters may sign up here: https://lavote.net/secured/E_SB/.
Audio Recordings
The Office of the City Clerk – Election Division produces and provides audio recordings of the OSB/VIP for visually-impaired voters and any other interested individuals.  The recordings are available in both cassette and CD format and are available in English and the eight federally-mandated languages: Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, and Vietnamese.
The recordings may be accessed on the Election Division’s website, http://clerk.lacity.org/Elections/ under the “Multilingual Services” section and/or “Voters” tab.  The audio recordings are also available at the Office of the City Clerk – Election Division, located at 555 Ramirez Street, Space 300, Los Angeles, CA 90012.  If you would like to obtain an audio recording, please call the office in advance of the May 21, 2013 General Municipal and Special Elections at (213) 978-0444 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Multilingual Voter Assistance
To obtain telephonic assistance in English and the eight Federally-mandated languages plus Armenian, please call (213) 978-0444 or toll-free at (800) 994-8683. Multilingual operators are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday from now until Election Day.  On Election Day, operators are available from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
