Long Beach City Council Meeting
The Long Beach City Council is having its regular meeting at 5 p.m. Feb. 12 at City Hall.
Some items of note on the agenda are a proposal to a plans for gas pipeline installation that would cost about $6 million, a proposal to allow the city manager to proceed with the entitlement phase of the long-term Belmont Pool Revitalization Project and the installation of a temporary outdoor pool, and a presentation of seismic deficiencies of the Civic Center to release a request for qualifications for the development of a new Civic Center.

Feb. 19
Proposed Ban on Single-Use Shopping Bags
Los Angeles has released its draft environmental impact report on the proposed ordinance and will be hosting a meeting to receive public comments at 5:30 pm Feb. 19 at the Wilmington Recreation Center.

Local Workforce Planning Forum
The Pacific Gateway Investment Network invites all business, nonprofit and workforce partners, and the public to participate in forums to help shape the development of the 2013-2014 Local Plan, from 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 27, at the Career Transition Center in Long Beach.
The Local Plan outlines future investments in employment services and training to meet the needs of job seekers and employers in cities of Long Beach, Torrance, Lomita, and Signal Hill.

Sample Ballot Recordings, Multilingual Assistance Available.  
LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles City Clerk June Lagmay reminded voters that audio recordings of the Official Sample Ballot and multilingual voter assistance are now available for the March 5, 2013 Primary Nominating Election.
The Office of the City Clerk produces and provides audio recordings of the Official Sample Ballot for visually-impaired voters and any other interested individuals.  The recordings are available in both cassette and CD format and are available in English and the eight federally-mandated languages: Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai and Vietnamese.
The audio recordings are available at the Office of the City Clerk – Election Division at 555 Ramirez St., Space 300, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
