On June 21, at least hundred parents and family members of some Port of Los Angeles High School students were left out of the graduating ceremony happening inside the Warner Grand because the theater was filled to capacity. All the families waiting outside had tickets.
According to one parent, Virginia Ramos, school officials said some may have copied tickets and entered the ceremony, but that has not been confirmed at this time. Each graduate was given six tickets.
Valdez’ mother, Maria, said it was illogical that she graduates when the family is outside. The principal has disappointed very much. this is the last daughter I have to graduate.
This year marked the first full graduating class where the students spent all four years at Port of Los Angeles High School. They were waiting to see Marilyn Orantes walk the stage (not pictured).
