Black History Month is an annual celebration of African American achievements and their central role in U.S. history. Since 1976, every U.S. president has designated February as Black History Month and endorsed a specific theme. This year’s theme is “African Americans and the Arts,” highlighting African Americans’ impactful contributions to visual arts, cultural movements, music, film, literature and more. SAN PEDRO —The National Endowment for the Arts or NEA has approved Angels Gate Cultural Center or AGCC for a grant of $25,000. In an announcement Jan. 24 Angels Gate Cultural Center said it looks forward to working with the NEA to finalize the grant paperwork and appreciates the agency’s support for this project.
This funding will support AGCC’s efforts to provide paid contemporary art exhibition opportunities for curators and artists, and will also allow AGCC to continue serving its local studio artist community.
Grand Vision has received an National Endowment for the Arts Grants for Arts Projects award to support Roots & Rambles.
Roots & Rambles features musicians who are dedicated to the preservation, creativity and evolution of American music. Audiences can meet the artists at pre-concert workshops, as they share history, stories, and music-making styles. In an announcement Grand Vision said it is honored to receive this grant from the NEA to present artists who keep folk music traditions alive and carry them creatively into the 21st century.
The Arts Council for Long Beach or ArtsLB is thrilled to announce that the National Endowment for the Arts or NEA has selected ArtsLB as a Grant for Arts Projects award recipient. This $30,000 investment positions ArtsLB as Long Beach’s direct pipeline to national arts advocacy, underscoring the impact of ArtsLB’s work to nurture and enliven arts in Long Beach.. These funds will support ArtsLB’s dedicated staff and vital community grant efforts in Long Beach communities.
The Arts Council for Long Beach said it looks forward to working with the NEA to finalize the grant paperwork and appreciates the agency’s support. In total, the NEA will award 958 Grants for Arts Projects awards, totaling more than $27.1 million that were announced as part of its first round of fiscal year 2024 grants.
