In what appears to be a move to cut losses on an 8-date concert tour, the Railroad Revival Tour featuring country music star Willie Nelson is officially cancelled. The bottom line is that there’s no money to fund these concerts across the United States. Without large investors and major sponsor participation, it is very hard to stage an event of this scale. Depending on ticket sale exclusively is not something that works very well in most cases.

Last year’s show with Mumford and Sons headlining a much shorter tour was a sell out in a half an hour. This year’s tour was doubled in size. With a band such as Willie Nelson’s topping the bill, the costs were more than likely steep.

We spoke with local onsite producer Jim Hall who said, “I was told this morning by the executive producers of the event had been officially canceled. I was given no reason as to why the show was cancelled”.
The official statement from the promoters is as follows. It is with extreme regret that we announce the cancellation of the 2012 Railroad Revival Tour. The decision to do so was a difficult one, but it was determined that certain complications would not permit us to host the shows in the manner intended, and that the bands and fans deserved.

There are rumors that Nelson’s health was a factor in the cancellation, but Random Lengths News have not able to confirm those claims.

Ticketholders will be receiving a full refund for all costs. All refunds will begin being processed and appear on your credit card statement.
