Random Lengths News provides us, its readership, with a working forum; it incites and provokes a real dialogue in our unique harbor community. RLn champions the best of the working classes from the ILWU to our own Neighbors for Peace and Justice. It doggedly works to render local politics and politicians transparent, and it publishes crucial articles from alternative press and media that the LA Times won’t touch.

The International Longshore Warehouse Union, ILWU Locals 13, 63 and 94 commend the writers and publisher of Random Lengths News for their forthright reporting and fair representation of the labor issues on the San Pedro Bay waterfront and in the communities surrounding the twin Ports of Los Angeles/ Long Beach Harbor. We urge all of those whole understand the importance of good jobs, fair wages and workers’ rights, who regularly post our “We Support the ILWU” posters on their windows to also show their support for this area’s only truly independent press, the one that speaks for the best interest of the community at large, by advertising in this labor friendly publication.

When we relocated our thrift store, The Beacon House Exchange, we were extremely nervous about our ability to increase sales to sustain the additional expenses of a larger space. Fortunately for us, the campaign RLn provided for us led to record sales. Even during the CoronaVirus crisis we were able to sustain online sales such that when we reopened on June 8th, we quickly eclipsed all sales records and June 2020 was our best month ever. No doubt, advertising in RLn was a key to both our success when launching our new location, as well as, record setting sales upon reopening.
