Land Use Planning and Public Works Committee
Stakeholders are invited to participate in the next Land Use Planning and Public Works Committee meeting, at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 11, at Think Café Restaurant in San Pedro.

- Review of development proposal for 311 S. Pacific Avenue, “San Pedro Family Apartment”, with architect Kevin Maffris of John Cotton Architects.
- Review special project opportunities for a Marymount Intern.

Get Healthy and Celebrate ‘PHAT Tuesday’
The Long Beach Health Department will be hosting a series of free special health screening events to assist residents in their quest toward improved health.
The community is invited to attend the Health Department’s Public Health Access and Treatment “(PHAT) Tuesday,” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Health Department. Services include hypertension, cholesterol, diabetes screening, as well as services such as HIV testing and health insurance enrollment services.

The San Pedro Chamber of Commerce Marketing and Tourism Committee invites you to join them in the upcoming Munch&Learn gathering, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 20.
Guest speaker Emma Ogley-Oliver, assistant professor of psychology at Marymount Collage, will discuss “Your Community Relations Strategy: What’s the Return on Investment?”
She will explore the concept of sense of community and its relationship to individual, organizational and community well being. The event is free to members and $10 to non-members. RSVP.

Call for Participation in the 2013 Budget Challenge
Angelenos are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to make their voices heard through the Los Angeles Budget Challenge.
The Los Angeles Budget Challenge was released Feb. 1, 2013 and distributed to all 95 Neighborhood Councils around the city. It is available for public access at http://la.budgetchallenge.org. The survey includes questions focused on the city’s major budget concerns for the upcoming fiscal year and will be available online until March 4, 2013. Physical copies are due Feb.27. Upon the deadline, the mayor’s office will collect the information and release the findings to the public.
