Postal Service Faces Bankruptcy
Postal Service workers are in a fight for their jobs.
The Postal Service is seeking to legislation that would cut postal workers and retirees from eh Federal Employees Health Benefits Program and federal retirement plans; allow management to lay off 120,000 employees and effectively eliminate collective bargaining.
Reps. Darrell Issa and Dennis Ross introduced H.R. 2309, which would establish a “solvency authority” with the power to unilaterally cut wages, abolish benefits and end protection against layoffs. However, Rep. Stepha Lynch has introduced H.R. 1351, which would not cut pay, benefits or service or eliminate collective bargaining rights.
Workers are asking stakeholders and supporters to call Rep. Janice Hahn to oppose H.R. 2309 and support H.R. 1351. Send a note of support to Janice Hahn at 24000 Rayburn Housing Office Building, Washington, D.C. 20515.
