Feb. 28

Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Council Meeting

The public is invited to speak on issues of general interest during the public comment periods at the beginning and end of Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Council governing board meeting, at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28, at the Cabrillo Marina Community Building.

The council will consider a motion to create an education committee and appoint Claudia Kreis as chairwoman, among other issues.

Central San Pedro Neighborhood Council

The Central San Pedro Neighborhood Council is hosting its monthly board and stakeholder meeting, at 6:30 p.m. March 8, a the Port of Los Angeles High School.

Angels Gates Seeks Artists

Artists working in fields such as performance artists, musicians, writers, ceramists, jewelers, filmmakers, printmakers, designers and visual artists are encouraged to apply to lead new community classes and workshops at the Angels Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro.

If you are a teacher, or if you have ever considered hosting an educational program, Angel's Gate Cultural Center would love to hear from you.

Palos Verdes Living

The 2011 Palos Verdes Dream House raffle is back for its ninth year.

This year there are more prizes, more chances to win and a special drawing for buyers of two or more tickets prior to the first early bird deadline.

Purchase two or more tickets by March 15 and you will be included in three additional drawings totaling $75,000. The Grand Prize winner will win $2 million.

Live the Palos Verdes dream and use the prize money to choose and purchase your own Palos Verdes Dream house, a new yacht or travel around the world. Tickets are $150 each. Proceeds benefit the Art Center’s ongoing visual arts education, exhibition, community and outreach programs.

All 27,000 tickets must be sold for the grand-prize winner to receive the $2 million cash prize. If a minimum of 18,000 are sold, but less than 24,000 tickets are sold, a cash prize of $1 million will be awarded.

The grand prize drawing is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. May 24, at the Palos Verdes Art Center.
