iPalpiti Orchestra & Soloists

 

Preview the 13th annual iPalpiti Festival of International Laureates, at 4:30 p.m. June 17, at the Rolling Hills United Methodist Church in Rolling Hills Estates. The rehearsal will be followed by 7:30 p.m. concert. Donation is $10 and $5 for children younger than 12 years old.

 

The Orchestral Ensemble draws its members from prize-winning musicians of international competitions. The annual International Laureates Festival - in Southern California each Summer since 1998 and culminates in an evening concert by the full orchestra at 6:00 p.m. July 24 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Urban Rhythm

 

The Urban Rhythm show choir will host their first set of auditions, from 4 to 8 p.m. June 18, at Hancock University Art and Design in Long Beach.

Inspired by FOX's hit show Glee, Urban Rhythm provides teenagers and young adults with the opportunity to perform in this new show choir.

 

Its mission is to advance an appreciation of the arts through a community urban show choir that allows an artistic outlet.

 

Twenty-four people from throughout the city will be selected. Rehearsals will take place through the summer months to prepare for fall and winter performances. Details: www.gocatalyst.org/urbanrhythm.php

Summer White Party Cruise

The International Imperial Court of Long Beach and Empress Jackie are hosting sixth annual Harbor Yacht Cruise, from 7:15 to 11:15 p.m. July 31, in Long Beach.

 

The event will raise funds for St. Mary's C.A.R.E. program and will include a buffet style dinner, a variety drag show, jewelry auction and a 50/50 raffle. Tickets are $45 before July 10.
