Harbor area residents are encouraged to apply for part-time census takers for the 2010 Census. The short-term jobs offer flexible hours, paid training and reimbursement for authorized work-related expenses, such as mileage.
The Census is a snapshot count of everyone residing on April 1, 2010 in the United States. More detailed information is gathered annually form a small percentage of the population through the American Community Survey.
The Census, which takes place every 10 years, allows population count to determine U.S. House Representation, allocation of federal funds for communities, location of roads and public facilities and accurate statistical information.
The 10-question survey will be mailed in March. Census workers will visit household that do not return the questionnaires.
Census takers start at $17 per hour
