On July 25, Random Lengths News publisher, James Preston Allen interviewed the former director of Museum of Latin American Art about his multimedia presentations on artists from Latin America. In this clip, he speaks on the founder of MoLAA, Dr. Robert Gumbiner and how his life presaged the current health care debate--particularly in this society's need to replace the profit motive from the care of the sick with one where the profit motive lies with the maintenance of good health. In addition, Luke explains Dr. Gumbiner's belief in the connection between art and the health of people and society.
Through this wide ranging interview, Luke speaks on how he came to MoLAA, recounts the important lessons he learned from MoLAA's founder, Dr. Gumbiner discusses how his telling of Frida Kahlo's life and art is different from any other, including a discussion where he draws some critically interesting connection's between artist Frida Kahlo, Michael Jackson, and Elvis.
