Random Notes of the Music Writer Dude
Since we are talking about Rockabilly, Brophy Dale from Long Beach, who has been a featured contributor to Guitar player magazine last fall. He plays not only with his group “The Brophy Dale Band” but is also a part of “Stray Cat” bassist Lee Rocker’s Band. The Brophy Dale Band is playing this Friday August 8 at the Blue Dog Tavern in Long Beach. Then on the 14th at Café Boogaloo in Hermosa Beach. Here is a chance to hear one of the tastiest guitar slingers in the area… You can pick up his latest CD, Night Hawking, while you are at the show or on www.cd baby.com , or for more info go to www.myspace.com/brophydaleban
The Blue Dog Tavern is at 4111 Viking Way, Long Beach, CA 90808, (562) 429-8935. The Café Boogaloo is at 1238 Hermosa Avenue, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254 (310) 318-2324.

Brimful will be playing their brand of hard/ progressive rock on Saturday Aug 09, 2008 at 8 p.m. Sachi is at 6400 E. PCH, Long Beach, CA, 90803. If you have not seen Brimful, you need to go to see three young men who are part of the new legion of real rock stars coming out of San Pedro. More info go to www.myspace.com/brimful.

Knuclebuster will playing Friday Aug 15 at 10 p.m. in The San Pedro Brewing Company, 331 West 6th Street, San Pedro, CA 90731 (310) 831-5663. Here is another great band coming into it’s own with intense classic hard driving rock sound. Here is another dynamic show being put on by the Brewing Company. You can contact the band at www.myspace.com/knuclebuster.

Our good friend Bernie Pearl is playing the Navasota Blues Festival in Navasota, Texas on August 9 at high noon. He has been invited to play in honor of his mentor the late great blues man Mance Lipscomb. Have a great show Bernie we all wish we could be there on this special occasion. You can go to Wolfgang’s Vault and hear a recording of a show at the famed Ash Grove around 1971 featuring the great Freddie King, with Bernie Pearl and his band backing him. You can reach Bernie Pearl at you guessed it www.myspace.com/berniepearl.

A final Random note the new music/art project by OGOGO/Linden. This is the collaboration of Artist, Conductor, Performer, and Composer, Igor Grigoriev/ The OGOGO Orchestra, and Contemporary Abstract Artist Ron Linden. This is a 14-track album of experimental music impressions of Mr. Linden’s artwork. The idea of Mussorgsky's “Pictures at the Exhibition” was implied by the reviewer on Amazon.com. Listening to the track “Pidgen” from the album is a bit of Stockhausen meets Zappa and Jerry Garcia, while tripping through to the next dimension. I would highly recommend this to any who dare step of the box for an audio/visual head game. For more information go to www.igorogogo.com or to find out more about Ron Linden go to www.ronlinden.com

You can get OGOGO/Linden at www.amazon.com

One more thing Next 2 Nothin' will be playing the Orange County Rock Festival August 30th. You can get $20 tickets from them for 12 bucks. Go to www.myspace.com/next2nothinsp to score some tickets.
