music programs on Saturday October 18 featuring the Kotoyuki Band with
Yukiko Matsuyama. Ms. Matsuyama, whose compositions of original Koto
music blends the traditional with contemporary pop and jazz idioms, is
a unique world music sound.

Random Lengths News had the opportunity to visit with San Pedro’s own Ambrosia last Saturday just before their return to the South Bay at Hermosa’s new music venue Saint Rocke. This sextet is filled with stellar musicians including three of the original members of Ambrosia, Christopher North on Keyboards, Joe Puerta on Bass, and Burleigh Drummond on Drums. |

Lobster Fest is coming to San Pedro with an exciting line up of musical acts to perform the entire weekend of September 19-20-21. On Sunday September 21, at 12:30 pm, Andy Hill & Renee Safier will be performing with their band ‘Hard Rain‘. The group will be performing a Tribute to Bob Dylan with a full hour set of Dylan’s songs. Andy and Renee have recorded nine CDs, one of which is their highly acclaimed Dylan tribute, “It Takes A Lot To Laugh,” produced by Springsteen sideman Marty Rifkin. The couple has toured internationally doing originals as well as covers of the little man from Minnesota (Dylan).

A charity event raising awareness & money for musician’s health care.
On Labor Day weekend, the most significant players in the alternative music scene will gather for a three-day event at Safari Sams. Singer/songwriter Dave Alvin and friends are putting this event together to raise cancer awareness and money for Duane Jarvis, Candye Kane and Drac Conley, who are suffering from the deadly disease. Most musicians are really working class people who make just enough to get by, if they are playing everyday it usually is not enough to cover a catastrophic illness’ like cancer. |
