From Friday, May 30 2008 To Sunday, September 14 2008 Every day
Greg Lynn, tapped by TIME Magazine as one of the most innovative designers in 2008, has created a site-specific installation, Blobwall Pavilion for SCI-Arc's Gallery. Blobwall Pavilion is an innovation redefinition of the brick - architecture's most basic building unit - into a lightweight object made of colorful plastic and reinterpreted into modular elements. Robotically cut, mass-produced, and formed into hollow tri-lobed shapes through rotational molding, "blobs" are assembled with interlocking precision to form the wall. An opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 30. A discussion of the exhibit will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, June 16. The entrance to SCI-Arc's parking lot is located at 350 Merrick Street, between Traction Avenue and 4th St in downtown Los Angeles.
