The Jerk Who Allegedly Stole Christmas
LOMITA — The Lomita Sheriff’s Department arrested 42-year-old Michael Wieczorek, Dec. 20, on suspicion of theft.
Detectives found that the home of Wieczorek, a San Pedro resident, was full of stolen merchandise, looted mail, identity theft tools and computers. Officials said the suspect would steal packages from people’s porches, opened them, then re-wrap them and re-gift them.
The investigation was opened after a report that someone stole a package from a Rancho Palos Verdes home. After the suspect was identified, deputies went to his home and found stolen goods from communities throughout Southern California, including Rolling Hills Estates, Torrance, Palos Verdes Estates, San Pedro, Los Angeles, Carson, Long Beach, Lakewood, Redlands, Temecula, Auburn, Murrieta and even Bellevue, Wash.
