Volunteer Open House at Rancho Los Cerritos
The Rancho Los Cerritos in Long Beach will host a Volunteer Open House, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 21.

March for Democracy
Join the March for Democracy, starting at 4 p.m. Jan. 21, at the Los Angeles City Hall Triforium.
Demonstrators will protest the fifth anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision on Citizens United v. FEC and demand that Proposition 49, a voter advisory to overturn Citizens United, be put on the 2016 ballot. A bus will be departing from Long Beach City Hall from 2 to 2:30 p.m. to take Harbor Area resident to the march in Los Angeles.

POLA Meets to Discuss Funding Policy
The Port of Los Angeles will host two meetings regarding the proposed Public Access Investment Funding Policy.
The first meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 22, at Banning’s Landing in Wilmington. The second meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 27, at the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro.
The funding policy provides budget guidelines to port staff for capital development of public access projects and initiatives.

CSUDH Auditions for Quixote
The California State University Dominguez Hills Department of Theatre and Dance is hosting auditions at 7 p.m. Jan. 26 and 27 for Octavio Solis’ Quixote, an adaptation of Cervantes’ Don Quixote.
The production will be directed by professor of theater arts Bill DeLuca and is being staged in conjunction with the Department of Modern Languages’ 41st Symposium of Hispanic Literature honoring the influence of Don Quixote in the humanities.

Proposed Public Access Investment Funding Policy
The Port of Los Angeles will host a community meeting to discuss the proposed Public Access Investment Policy, from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 27, at the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro.
Staff from the Port will present and review a recent proposal of a strategy to secure and manage future funding for the port’s public access projects. The presentation will be followed by an opportunity for the attendees to comment and ask questions.

The purpose of the Greater Los Angles Point-in-Time Homeless Count is to provide a biennial snapshoot of the number of homeless persons, their demographic characteristics and the locations of where they reside.

Volunteers Wanted for Citywide Count of Homeless Persons
Community volunteers are encouraged to participate in the count of homeless persons, between 5 and 9 a.m. Jan. 29, at the Multi-Service Center in Long Beach.
The biennial Homeless Count, required by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, measures homelessness to help determine existing resources, identity gaps and progress toward ending homelessness.
