Explore the historical archives and interactive displays of the Satyr Motorcycle Club archive presentation, Rumble, May 1 through 10, at the Cultural Alliance of Long Beach.
The group is the oldest, continuously running gay organization, with founding members from Long Beach to Los Angeles.

Student Art Exhibition
The Palos Verdes Art Center/Beverly G. Alpay Center for Arts Education presents its Annual Student Art Exhibiton, an exhibition highlighting Peninsula student work, from May 2 through 25.
The exhibit opens May 2, in the Yassin and Walker galleries of the Palos Verdes Art Center. A public reception is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. May 2.
This exhibition will highlight recent artistic creations from three student groups associated with the Palos Verdes Art Center: Art At Your Fingertips, Partners in Art, and a selection of high school students from the Palos Verdes Unified School District.

South Bay Museum, Gallery Art Crawl
The Torrance Art Museum is organizing the first South Bay Museum and Gallery Art Crawl, from 12 to 6 p.m. May 3.
The purpose of the Art Crawl is to map and publicize the fine art museums and galleries in the South Bay. The South Bay is home to many excellent visual art museums and galleries. The local and regional communities are invited to visit and explore the following participating fine art institutions for free:
Torrance Art Museum, South Bay Contemporary/Zask Gallery, Gallery at El Camino College, Summer Studios Arts Academy in Lomita, Palos Verdes Art Center and Artist’s Studio Gallery, California Museum of Fine Art and APC Fine Arts and Graphics Gallery.

An artist reception is scheduled for the exhibition and sale, Reflections, featuring oil painter Kathie Reis, watercolorist Linda Thompson and jeweler Marilyn Harrison, from 2 to 5 p.m. May 4, at the Artists’ Studio Gallery in San Pedro.
Marilyn Harrison’s lifestyle of traveling and connecting with people enhances the unique art of her hand-designed jewelry.
Kathie Reis, a native Californian, paints a variety of subjects including portraits, landscapes, seascapes, animals and Native Americans.
Linda Thompson, who attended the Art Institute of Chicago, has continued with sculpture, life drawing, oil painting classes and workshops from local and internationally known artists.
The Artists’ Studio Gallery is a cooperative of seventy artists affiliated with the Palos Verdes Art Center/Beverly G. Alpay Center for Arts Education, a non-profit community arts organization.
A closing reception on Sunday, May 25 from 2 to 5 p.m.

Student Art and Design Exhibitions
CSU Dominguez Hills is showcasing the works of studio art graduates, May 5 through 15.
An opening reception is scheduled, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 5, at the University Art Gallery. Cost is free.

Raffle Supports Art Institution
The Palos Verdes Art Center/Beverly G. Alpay Center for Arts Education is excited to announce its annual fundraising raffle tickets are available for purchase.
The CA Dream Raffle is the longest operating house raffle in the state of California, the proceeds of which go directly to funding The Palos Verdes Art Center. The Center serves as a teaching institution, contemporary exhibition space, and community center for the residents of South Bay and beyond. For more than a decade, the proceeds from the raffle go directly to funding the programming of the 83 year-old cultural institution that is enjoyed by residents across Los Angeles County.
One lucky winner could be eligible to win 1 million dollars in cash and a 5,300 square foot estate! Valued at 2 million dollars and boasting multiple terrace levels, an outdoor spa, and newly re-modeled, center island kitchen. Other features include travertine flooring, two fireplaces (one in living room and one in lower level entertainment room), and panoramic canyon vistas – all located on a 17,543 square foot lot. The resort-like estate must be seen to be believed.
There will be a special drawing for buyers of two or more tickets; multiple ticket holders will have the opportunity to win an additional $75,000.

Harbor Community Clinic Exhibits San Pedro Artists
Harbor Community Clinic (www.thehcc.net) is proud to have on its walls art created by San Pedro artists CharlaRae, John James Geary, and Stephen Scheffler.  Ms. Wadeeah Al-Ali, a graduate student at Marymount California University in Rancho Palos Verdes, has volunteered her time to the clinic to curate these exhibits.  She will continue to bring new works into the facility on a rotating basis for the enjoyment of patients and staff.  Ms. Al-Ali is also assistant to the arts and media chair at Marymount California University and specializes in animation and film editing.
The ongoing art exhibits at Harbor Community Clinic are part of the clinic’s beautification project that began last year with the award of a grant from the Harbor Community Benefit Foundation (www.hcbf.org).
